What's the temperature?

Room 10 have been learning about how we measure temperature.  These are photo's of one of our groups reading the thermometer to read the temperature.  They first had to  estimate the temperature of four different  cups of water (each containing different combinations of warm and cold water) and then check their estimations.

You are invited...

Parents of room 10 are invited to attend Room 10's sharing of their mihi followed by a shared lunch on Thursday 3rd July in room 10.

Sharing will begin after morning tea at 11.30.  There will be prizes for the top two best speeches.

If you could please provide a plate of food to contribute to the shared lunch, this would be great.

A letter will be coming home next week to invite you to this event.....

Please help me to be kind each and every day that goes past and to be loving, joyful and peaceful with each other.

Dear Holy Spirit

You are shining through me like a burning fire.  You are God's breath.  Can you please give me  the fruit of happiness when someone achieves something and I don't.

Explain Everything

Room 10 trying out 'Explain Everything' on the IPADS.  Lots of fun today using photos and text to tell a story.

Description Writing Term 2

New York is so cool and awesome.  You can even see the reflection in the sea.  It is so very bright but it is also so dark.  The buildings are like big rectangles reaching up to the sky.
By Jahsiah

A banana grows on a tree.  Some bananas are yellow and some bananas are green.  They are good for me and you.  Bananas are small, medium and big.  They grow in a bunch.  You find bananas in hot places because they like it hot.
By Mary

The banana grows off a tree on a stalk.  The banana goes to the shop for selling.  It is the shape of a crescent moon.
If you leave a banana for too long, it will go rotten but the banana is very good for baking and cooking.
By Mattie

The banana grows on trees on tropical islands because they love the heat.
They grow small, medium and big.  You can get them in the supermarket.
The colour inside is white and the colour on the outside is yellow and sometimes green.
If your banana is brown, it means your banana is not good to eat.
Bananas that are ready to eat are white on the inside with soft squishy flesh and smooth skin on the outside.  Many bananas grow in groups of six or seven in a bunch.

The tall high rise rectangular shaped beams stretch across the hexagon shaped post.  The bone
coloured walls face the other side of the building.  The building feels extremely hard like rubbing your hand on sand paper.

Moment in Time Writing

Moment in Time Writing From Term 1

In this moment in time, I have just jumped off a very small cliff.  Around me the water feels wet and cold.  All the water is crystal clear.  Above me on the shore, the water is darker.  There is the smell of salt.  I am thinking in my head, "This is cool.  It is really fun".

Here I am in my brother's arms.  There is strength in his arms which makes me feel safe and warm.  Screaming and shouting hits the air.  My brother says, "Here you go, you little rat bag".
"No, no, no!" I say in a laughing way.  My hair goes up and my mouth opens wide as I let out a scream.  My mouth goes very dry.  Everyone laughs.  I am excited.  My legs start to bend.  I can see the blur of the water in all its different colours like a multi coloured rainbow.

By Hayley

At this moment in time, I am bouncing up and down in the water.  As I jump up and down, my hair is frizzing up like spikes.  My heart is beating fast.  I'm so puffed, I need to stop but don't want to.  Imagine if this was you!  Even though the water is freezing cold, I'm trying to warm up.  Beneath me I feel my feet sinking into the wet sand.  There is the sound of seagulls singing and birds chirping to other birds.
